Eat. Drink. Give. AGM & Thank You Dinner

On 13 September we held our first Annual General Meeting and ‘Thank you’ dinner for the valuable contributions made by our many volunteers and business supporters. We were also fortunate enough to have along representatives from the Harris Community Centre, who we have supported over the past 12 months through our Food Without Prejudice Project. It was a fantastic evening, made even better by the fact that we could share it with people who are so passionate about our cause.

In addition, we also elected our 2012-13 Executive Committee as follows:
President: Brendon Harrington
Vice President: Stephen Wan
Treasurer: Andrew Law
Public Officer: Hien Duong
Secretary: Sasha Connie Tong
Committee Member: Ellyn Tse
Committee Member: Tony Peters

We’d also like to recognise the valuable contribution of Denise Cheng who has, over the past year, gracefully fulfilled the role of Treasurer and will stay on to assist us in managing the accounts.

Hien & Tony’s Housewarming

We’d like to thank Hien Duong and Tony Peters for asking us to cater the housewarming at their amazing new place overlooking Hyde Park in the Sydney CBD. Guests at the party were treated to a specially designed menu, prepared and served by our team of EDG volunteers, along with the odd glass of champagne!

Big thanks go to Ellyn, Stephen, Eric, Lorena, Neil, Nilu, Judy and Carey for all their hard work. We’re also pleased to say that we raised just under $3000 towards our Food Without Prejudice Project – helping to bring good food to the community.

ANHF Community Housing – Residents’ Dinner

The team at ANHF Community Housing in Ultimo were kind enough to welcome us into their complex to prepare a traditional Chinese winter meal of goat stew, rice and veges for their 80 residents and staff. And while our team worked away in the kitchen, cooking and packing dinner boxes, the residents were treated to a show by a local illusionist.

It was certainly an enjoyable night for all involved – including the EDG team of volunteers, Brendon, Daisy, Eric, Isabel, Sasha Connie and Stephen. We look forward to bringing our Food Without Prejudice Project back to ANHF in the near future.

Ultimo/Pyrmont Chinese New Year Festival.

On Friday 3 February the Harris Centre and Ultimo Community Centre hosted their annual Chinese New Year Festival for the local residents of Ultimo and Pyrmont. It was a great event enjoyed by all and also attended by the Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore.

As part of our Food Without Prejudice Project the team of Eat. Drink. Give. volunteers prepared over 600 fortune bags filled with Chinese treats – all of which were distributed for free to the hungry crowd by the Harris Centre.

Harris Community Centre Christmas Celebration.

Our very first Food Without Prejudice Project! Thank you to the Harris Community Centre for giving us the opportunity, it was very rewarding indeed. Big thank you to all the volunteers from both EDG and the Harris Centre for putting on such a good night for the 100+ elderly people, and the disadvantaged families around the Ultimo area.

This event marked the very first of our many upcoming projects in the future, and as we take our first major step forward, we remember those who have made it all possible – the hard-working team at EDG, the generous volunteers, and all the guests who have attended and supported each and every one of our events. It’s been a pleasure to be working alongside you all and let’s cheers to a better, more fruitful year in 2012! See you all soon!!

The Art of Taste.

On 7 December 2011 we held our first event in collaboration with 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art – The Art of Taste.

It was a fantastic evening filled with artistic and culinary creation, showcasing the works of Shen Shaomin and our very own Eat. Drink. Give. chefs!

We raised a total of just under $5,000 and we could not possibly have done it without the guests who attended and the help of many people who volunteered on the night.
